   ICT

We live in a rapidly and constantly changing technological age. At Four Oaks Primary School we are very lucky to have extensive ICT equipment and technical expertise to complement and support the whole curriculum and to prepare our pupils with skills they will need beyond school.

All pupils have the opportunity to use computers from the day they start school. They play games, listen to stories and support their early learning through a variety of programs and experiences. They quickly learn how to use equipment and programs safely and sensibly.

During pupils time at Four Oaks they will develop skills in ICT that will provide them with skills for life. They will know how to use the computer and related equipment to communicate and share information, ensuring a full understanding of safe use of the Internet. They will investigate and learn ways to research and handle statistical information. They will use simple programming and design tools and toys to control models and robots. Overall, the children will have a wide experience of Information Technology and have the opportunity to learn and develop their computer knowledge, understanding and skills at their own level thus becoming increasingly independent and innovative.

The school has an ICT suite consisting of 31 computers and an interactive whiteboard. This enables the pupils to have sole access to a computer for at least one session a week and for the teacher to illustrate clearly to the pupils how a process or piece of software can be accessed and used in their work.

Alongside this each class and both halls have interactive whiteboards that are used for teaching and learning. Together with laptop computers that are deployed around school, and access to digital cameras, camcorders, voting consoles, mp3 players, voice recorders and more, the staff and pupils consider themselves privileged.

Our award winning website has much information about the school and the work we do and provides many links to information and learning opportunities for all the school community. Please take a look and join in the forums and questionnaires you may find there.
