Going Environmental with

Neal's Yard Remedies

Four Oaks Primary School has struck up a partnership which could help us to improve the environment of our site. We have been given a fantastic donation of £1000 to help us in our campaign to make our school a sustainable natural place. Neal’s Yard Remedies are the company who have come to our aid and it has all happened because of a member of staff who uses their natural products.

Neal’s Yard Remedies, in their own words, have been leading the way in ecological, organic and sustainable well being for the last 30 years. They are the first certified organic health company in the UK and the first to achieve the Soil Association certification for their organic non-food items. Also they were the very first Carbon Neutral high street retailer in the UK, so they are well suited to helping us with our environmental campaign.

Neal’s Yard Remedies have given the school a great boost by donating £1000 for us to finance an ecological project within school. So Four Oaks, spearheaded by Mrs Statham, who is in charge of ecological elements of school life, plan to use the very kind donation to improve our already very natural site by providing new habitats for the local wildlife. Improvements should include online Bird Boxes so that all our pupils will be able to follow the lives of nesting birds on this fantastic website (remember Chick Watch 2010 ???), hedgehog habitats, raised beds for planting, and binoculars for the children to watch the wildlife around the site.

Our Eco-Schools Co-ordinator Mrs Statham said ‘ This is a fantastic boost for our school and a very generous donation from people who are genuinely interested in helping the children to create a natural interactive environment in which to spend their days learning ! ’
