Rangoli are patterns on the floor mostly used by people from the Indian Sub-Continent . They are designs that are very colourful and can often be found drawn outside buildings. There can be square, circular or rectangular Rangoli patterns and designs are usually taken from nature. People sometimes use rice to make Rangoli patterns. You would normally put dots to begin with and then join up the dots and then whatever lines you get you put colour inside. Mrs Garikipati came in to school and drew two different types of Rangoli patterns in our outdoor classroom. One of them we had to colour in with chalk and the other with paint !
