Mr Baines' Olympic Coin Challenge

To mark the Olympic Games, the Royal Mint has issued a London 2012 50p Sports Collection. There are 29 different 50p coins with designs representing: aquatics, archery, athletics, badminton, boccia, boxing, basketball, canoeing/kayaking, cycling, equestrian, fencing, football, goalball, gymnastics, handball, hockey, judo, modern pentathlon, rowing, sailing, shooting, taekwondo, table tennis, tennis, triathlon, volleyball, weightlifting, wheelchair rugby and wrestling.

To show off our Olympic teamwork, Mr Baines set KS2 the challenge to find all 29 coins from change they receive and bring them in to school before the Olympic Games begin.

As of 18th June the children have collected 21 out of the 29. We are still looking to find: aquatics, athletics, boccia, equestrian, fencing, football, weightlifting and wheelchair rugby.

If you find any of the remaining coins, please bring them in to school and show Mr Baines who will take a photograph. Take a close up look at the ones we have found so far by clicking on the small photos…
